Everything Encaustic

Park Schreck Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming show Everything Encaustic, with an opening reception on Friday November 2nd, 7-10pm.

Everything Encaustic will be a visually stimulating new show featuring artists working in encaustic painting. This technique involves mixing pigments in heated wax which are then applied to a surface. This art form has been used for centuries and may even date back to the Egyptians!

State of the Art at Park Schreck Gallery

Park Schreck Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming show State of the Art, featuring work by Ray Becoskie and Jane Carney.

We are thrilled to feature Ray Becoskie in another show. His recent solo show at the gallery was a huge success. Ray’s sophisticated yet playful compositions would make a welcome addition to any home.

The gallery would like to give a warm welcome to Jane Carney. Jane is a brilliant abstract artist out of Evanston, Illinois. Professionally she teaches art at Loyola Academy. Her work has a simple palette that evokes great depth. She is another one of our artist/teachers that inspires youth to pursue the arts!

Thicker Than Water

Park Schreck Gallery is pleased announce the upcoming show Thicker Than Water, featuring work by Mark MacKinnon, Chad M. Sperzel-Wuchterl, and Chris Gans.

Mark MacKinnon exhibited with Park Schreck Gallery last year. The response to his work was so great that it was a given that he would show again at the gallery. Mark is a master at taking photos of picturesque vistas or objects and turning those photographs into amazing pieces of art!

Chad M. Sperzel-Wuchterl is multi-talented. He creates highly textural abstract works on canvas as well as handsome and hip oil paintings on paper. Chad’s subdued earth tones make it difficult to tell if he is using paint or carving from natural materials.

Chris Gans is new to the gallery and an exciting edition. Inspired by his studies in forensic science, Chris’s work involves some awesome chemistry, providing a fluidity and color that is exceptional. His process, like his work, is fascinating. Needs to be experienced in person!

The gallery is open to the public 11am–6pm (Thursdays until 8pm), Sundays 12–5pm, and closed on Tuesdays.

Exhibition: May 5th–June 11th, 2012

Opening Reception: Friday, May 4th, 7–10pm

In their first year, Park Schreck Gallery showcased an impressive and diverse group of artists, 80% being local Chicago talent. The gallery has had a warm welcome from the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhoods and is happy to be part of such a vibrant community. Owners John Park and Dan Schreck are planning a dynamic lineup of current and new artists for their second year.

Come celebrate Park Schreck Gallery’s one year anniversary, featuring new work by Jonathan Stein, John Park, and Dan Schreck. Opening reception will be Friday, May 4th, from 7-10pm. Beverages and light appetizers will be served. Work will be on display through June 11th.

Jonathan Stein’s intricate abstracts are captivating and subtle. His Rorschach-influenced work has been a strong presence in the gallery since August 2011.

John Park’s radiant oil paintings are a celebration of texture and color. John’s keen sense of the mid-century palette have inspired many commissioned paintings for the neighborhood.

Dan Schreck’s reuse of everyday materials and patterns make for curiously familiar images. Dan will be showing selections from his current Snail Mail Security series.
