Front & Center is the culmination of Hyde Park Art Center’s 2013 Center Program—a professional development initiative which offers a group of artists the unique opportunity to develop a new body of work, receive feedback from professionals in the field, and work towards an exhibition to be held in our main gallery. Over the course of six months, a supportive peer network, guest artists, gallerists, critics, and professionals push Center Program artists to answer tough questions, evolve their art, and ultimately produce a strong, new body of work to show.
The exhibition will run from August 10 – 24, with a gallery reception on August 10 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Mischief Night invites Chicagoans to enjoy creative workshops, artist performances, exhibitions, music, and events during this day-long festival that features kid-friendly family programming during the day, and activities for adults after 5 pm.
Mischief Night is a unique community event that connects a diverse group of artists, performers, organizations, businesses, and Chicagoans from all over the city, encouraging everyone to interact with art and each other in a celebratory environment.
This year’s Mischief Night will cater to art-hungry, art-curious kids, teens, and adults with even more fun elements like food trucks, guerrilla art making activities, and the debut of ARTBAR, a creative event tailored to young professionals in their 20s and 30s that features live music, a cash bar, and art making workshops like clay hand building, darkroom photography, and screen printing.
