RAW: Natural Born Artists


RAW Chicago launches their very first showcase and hosting a night of music, art, fashion and film at Double Door on Thursday, March 14th, 2013 entitled “Generation.”

RAW:natural born artists is a nationwide organization for artists, by artists, that hosts eclectic monthly art showcases in more than 60 major cities across the country currently, and growing.

RAW’s mission as an organization is to provide a platform for local independent and emerging artists in all genres, to network and connect with one another, gain more exposure, and find a new audience.

Entertainment to include music sets by Chestnut Brown, Escape Artists, Bloodshot Hounds and fashion by Laura Thampthimkuna.Hair will be provided by Maya Puentes and makeup by Emily Siegel. DJ Flipt the Skript will be accompanying the fashion show with live music. Performances by Jay Washington and Deonte Scott and a short film by Jun Nagano.

The pop-up visual artist gallery will include accessories by Jessica White. Photography by Disturbing New Trends, Jon Coffin, Paris Smith, Matthew Perrin, Garrett Mestas, Meredith Gerber, John Hung and Monica Labelle and visual art by Doug Jones, Kevin’s cutouts, Martha Kubica, Terry Tayler, Bryan Moss, Megan VanKanegan, Jennifer Lauren, Kate Rosendale. Advanced tickets are $10 and can be purchased through an artist to support their place in the show at http://www.rawartists.org/chicago/generation. Tickets go up to $15 at the door.Doors for this 21 + event open at 7:30 pm and guests are encouraged to dress in cocktail attire.

Phoenix Rising Chicago


Phoenix Rising Chicago is producing a unique and female-empowering evening of performing, visual, and multimedia art to be held at The Double Door on June 19, 2013. We are looking to create an entertaining, one-of-a-kind showcase inclusive of a variety of styles, genres, and subject matter. The mission of this event is to bring local awareness to those affected by eating disorders, with 100% of profits benefiting a local ED-based organization. A Gynaeceum in Ancient Greece was a building or was the portion of a house reserved for women, generally the innermost apartment. Our Gynaeceum will feature a variety of female-originated works throughout the evening.

We are looking for art of all kinds, including dance, performance art, multimedia work, visual art, comedy, music, burlesque…

Please consider stage size when submitting (20×16 minus sound equipment)
Artists will be given the opportunity to sell their work at the show
Not all performers have to be female; however all art needs to originated by a female
Time limit for performing acts: 5 minutes for solo/duet acts, 10 for groups of 3+, 20 for musicians
This show/venue is 21+, no exceptions

RAW Presents: The Blend at the Double Door

On Thursday, May 24th 2010 RAW Natural Born Artists and the Double Door [1572 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago] will be presenting a multi-faceted creative showcase featuring new and innovative young Chicago artists, known as The Blend.  The evening features musical performances, a film screening, fashion show, art gallery, and hair and makeup stations. These artists are all local talent, chosen for their ability and personality to be featured by RAW on stage and online. A few features include Bad Bad Meow, a high octane acoustic experience whose sound has been described as “Acoustic Country Punk,” Chicago based Hesperidian Productions, responsible for such local films as Stiletto and Awakening, and burlesque entertainer Tito Bonito (a.k.a. The Cuban Missile Crisis).  

The Blend will also feature a cash bar for cocktails while you enjoy the night. Dress code is cocktail attire, so dress the occasion and get ready for an artistic circus of creativity!

RAW: Natural Born Artists is an independent arts organization that hand-selects and spotlights independent creatives in visual art, film, fashion, music, hair & makeup artistry, photography, models and performing art.

RAW’s mission is to provide up-and-coming artists of all creative realms with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity so that they might be seen, heard and loved.
