Robin Deacon (born 1973 Eastbourne, England) is an artist, writer and filmmaker based in the UK. Working since the early 1990’s, much of his work encompasses live performance with a series of performed lectures that have explored journalistic and documentary approaches to arts practice. He presented his lecture performance White Balance: A History of Video at the Emily Harvey Foundation Gallery in New York in 2013. Recent projects include a documentary film on the life of late US performance artist Stuart Sherman, which had its premiere screening in 2013 in association with The Whitney Museum and Performa, and screened at the Tate in fall 2014. Deacon is currently Associate Professor in Performance at SAIC.

Out of Site Chicago is a performance art series that curates unexpected encounters in public spaces. We support contemporary performance artists to create new work that engages directly with the public. Based in the Wicker Park-Bucktown neighborhood, our mission is to bring cultural experiences to everyone, facilitating work that brings joy and transports people out of their daily routines to create a moment of reflection and wonder in their lives.

Support for this project was provided by The Propeller Fund, a joint administrated grant from Threewalls and Gallery 400 at The University of Illinois at Chicago.
