Art Spree Spotlight: Sue Dix of Hoffman Estates has worked in clay for over a decade and juried into the Illinois Artisans Program in 2013:

“Within my first few months of working with clay, I realized that I had found the creative outlet I had been searching for.  Working with clay provides the range of possibilities and a visceral enjoyment that appeal to me in a way that my previous creative efforts had never provided.  In clay, I can create three-dimensional pieces on the wheel.  I can preserve the beauty of a leaf.  I can make the small trays that are my blank canvases to paint on in underglaze.”

Illinois Artisans, a not-for-profit endeavor, is a showcase for art work created by the state’s finest artisans. It provides an ongoing opportunity to view and purchase the best designed and handmade traditional and contemporary craft made in Illinois.
