Stephanie Serpick and Christopher Ottinger at Bert Green Fine Art

Bert Green Fine Art is pleased to present our first solo shows by New York-based painter Stephanie Serpick and Chicago-based multimedia artist Christopher Ottinger.

Stephanie Serpick’s paintings are layered compositions which incorporate hazy signifiers. They are designed to infer visually incomplete meanings while at the same time generating simultaneous feelings of satisfaction and unease. Despite employing simple, non-threatening elements, these works impart a fundamental amount of tension and a palpable sense of contradiction.

Christopher Ottinger works with electricity as his medium. This installation is conceptually inspired by the work of Nikola Tesla, specifically his ideas about wireless power transmission. The project space will be populated with several works which affect one another as well as in combination with an audience. These are intended to be interactive; viewers are encouraged to move parts around and touch things which affect the operation of the flows of electricity and sound.

There will be an Opening Reception on Saturday January 17, 2015 from 5-8 pm, and an Artist’s Talk by Christopher Ottinger on Saturday February 28, 2015 at 4pm. Gallery hours are Wednesday–Friday 11–6 and Saturday 12-5, or by appointment at other times.
