SUMMER SHORTS – Call for Entries

shorts

SUMMER SHORTS is an intimate sideyard screening and reading to highlight local artists and celebrate alternative spaces for experiencing art. Transforming the sideyard into a small theater, we aim to show the work of artists using animation, video, or film as a means for experimentation and feature writers who also play with the short form, pairing moving image with live reading.

ARE YOU AN ARTIST OR WRITER IN CHICAGO?  SEND US YOUR STUFF!
Artists/Writers must currently reside in Chicago.

We’re looking for…

Animation/Video/Film SHORTS
Submit your moving picture work of all genres – animation, video, or film.
Submissions can be seconds short or up to 8 minutes in length. Artists working outside their usual practice in these media are also encouraged to apply.
Works will be projected onto a large screen, so good resolution is important.

Writing SHORTS
Submit your very best fiction, poetry, or non-fiction for consideration.
In keeping with the theme, we encourage writers to send in their short writings:  micro-stories and flash fiction, approximately 8 minutes or less if read out loud.
If accepted, you will read your work live, so be prepared to perform.

TO APPLY:
Send an email to summershortschicago@gmail.com with subject line “Summer Shorts” and either “Writing” or “Video” depending on what you are submitting.

Include a link to your video (URL to vimeo, youtube, or your own site) or attach your writing submission.
