ZIA Gallery presents an exhibition of works by Mary Burke and Anne Hughes, May 3 – June 14, 2014. The Opening Reception is Saturday, May 3rd, 5 – 7pm at 548 Chestnut St., Winnetka, IL 60093.
Artist Mary Burke, originally from Chicago, now makes her home in the country surrounded by nature, which looms large in her analytical abstractions. She has a knack of combining intellectual and studied approaches to design with varied forms of mark-making from painterly, graphic outline and personalized hand-writing along with both visual and written references to nature, her refuge. The result is a subtle, contemporary rhythm of paint, abstraction and imagery.
Anne Hughes takes an emotional and intuitive approach to art, allowing the process to be a journey toward an unexpected end. Inevitably, her efforts result in vibrant color and layered imagery expressing mystery and wonder.
ZIA Gallery encourages the public to join us in celebrating individuated art and the process of discovery. Contact the gallery for more information: 847-446-3970 and http://www.ZIAgallery.net
