The Silver Room announces the exhibition of Natasha Kohli’s latest work entitled “Abstracted” will be at The Silver Room, 1442 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago, IL. The opening reception will occur on March 21, 2014, from 7pm to 10pm. The show will run March 22nd through May 3rd 2014, and is open to the public.
In this unique showcase, Kohli’s work remains timely, accessible and beautiful. A Chicago native, Kohli began painting iconic images of the city for local businesses and restaurants at the age of eighteen. Her inquiry into the relationship between intimacy and beauty necessarily redrew her attention to the home and other personal spaces. Kohli’s work embodies modern concerns for the relationship between beauty and inhabited space. Her work is a commitment to those who seek to harmonize their lives with the possibility of ubiquitous beauty.
“We continue to be enamored by urban spaces; open lofts, exposed brick walls and light. Art belongs in these spaces and the artist insists on the singularity of form and function. In order for a work to achieve its aesthetic purpose it must also achieve its aim in function, to beautify those spaces that are dearest to us and express our simultaneous desire for comfort and elegance “ states Kohli.
The Silver Room is known for its outstanding choice of cutting-edge artists. Recent exhibitions have included New York photographer Mark Schreiber took over the gallery with his entire collection of original photographs from his book “True Hip-Hop,” Lucy Slivinsky, renowned Chicago Lighting Designer, transformed the entire space into an interactive sculpture, along with the indoor and outdoor walls being converted into graffiti artist Hebru Brantley’s canvas. “Abstracted” is a perfect fit for a space as cutting edge as The Silver Room.
