‘O, Good Lord” Call For Artists

Jackson Junge Gallery is immediately seeking artists’ submissions for an exhibit titled, “O, Good Lord!” beginning November, 2013.  Submission for exhibition is free.

This exhibit will explore interpretations of spirituality, religion and sacred imagery in today’s Contemporary Art scene.  In earlier decades, the church elicited religious imagery from artists.  Today, the term “religion” has taken on a much broader meaning.  Many Contemporary artists incorporate some aspect of spirituality / religion in their work.

Artists in all media are encouraged to submit any work, or sketches and supporting documentation for proposals of future work, with their artistic interpretation incorporating spirituality and/or religious themes (traditional and non-traditional) in a contemporary style. Priority and preference will be given to new works of art.  Artworks must be professionally presented and ready for installation.

Themes to consider:

• How has religious iconography changed in Contemporary Art?

• In a world which is increasingly more secular, how is spirituality being represented in today?

• As information about other religions and cultures has become more available, how has the portrayal of religion been changed or altered?

• Aside from the more institutionalized view of religion, has individual spirituality influenced Contemporary Art?

How to Submit:

Step One:

Complete the SUBMISSION FORM for each piece you wish to submit.  No more than 8 pieces may be submitted.  Form can be found at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ae-Y20yAm6Xhvtlb-qX39_fhke6T8GJX7XxRz2_XJLI/viewform.
