North Riverside Mall Theatre, at 7501 West Cermak Road, is excited to welcome Chicago artist Zac Franzoni as their upcoming artist for the month of August. Franzoni has been a practicing artist for 11 years and says he is thrilled to show his work to an entirely different audience. The theatre will be presenting Franzoni’s works in the lobby exhibit space, for movie-goers to enjoy.
Franzoni’s artistic inspiration stems from his number one influence, his uncle. Franzoni lived next door to his uncle for ten years during his childhood, and always remembered being amazed by the countless surreal paintings propped on the walls of his uncle’s basement studio. “It was like a dream world, and to me, at that age, he was living a mysterious and wondrous life as an artist, and I wanted that,” explains Franzoni.
According to Franzoni, his artwork can be best described as abstract expressionism. He primarily uses acrylics on wood or canvas to create colorful and organic pieces. A majority of the pieces that will be on display at the theatre are new works Franzoni worked on over the past three months. Some will be older pieces which he completed while live painting at various events.
“Painting live is one of my greatest passions,” he says. Franzoni and his work have been providing a sense of atmospheric entertainment and artistic energy to events and venues for over four years. “I bring my paints, an easel and a blank canvas, and produce a piece of artwork that is a tangible representation of the environment and the people around me,” he explains. Franzoni weighs in with the final word on his artwork: “I am a hopeless romantic, and for this I have my parents to thank. It’s not just about love, it’s about spending all of my time and energy doing the things I care about surrounded by people who make it possible for happiness to exist, no matter the circumstances.” To learn more about Zac Franzoni and his artwork, please visit his website at www.zacfranzoni.com.
