Before making paintings, Amy made dances. For 22 years she performed and choreographed professionally, and her critically acclaimed company, Osgood Dances, was a vital member of the Chicago dance scene. That experience is an important influence on her work today. Her paintings, like dances, are textured and kinetic. Like dance, her process utilizes improvisation in the initial approach and development of each canvas. Drawing on these influences and her bold sense of color and shape, she crafts paintings rich with motion and humanity. Amy has studied painting under George Rocheleau, M. Ivan Cherry, and Florence Singer. She has exhibited at Raw Art Gallery, Judy A Saslow Gallery, The Steppenwolf Theatre, Gallery 175 and many other venues. Over 200 of her works are in private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
Currently, twelve of Amy's paintings are on display at Green Home Chicago, 213 N. Morgan St., unit 1-D.
