Jill King

Jill King’s paintings are dense relief-like images that are formed by layering colored sand and oils over an adhesive. Her works are journeys in sand that explore transcendental places. The beholder travels through timeless swirls and spaces built from thickly layer marks and dashes inspired by ancient cultures. Jill also creates organic sculptures which are influenced by fossils, shells, seeds and ancient artifacts. They are playful experiments that examine the idea of creating new “life forms”. King’s works embrace the primal forces that all humans carry even in the shadow of modern times. Further information on Jill King can be found at www.JillKingStudio.com
